Together we can stop it: challenging "common sense"

Ellie Hutchinson: As part of the 16 days of action,  we co-hosted a lecture with WILPF and the University of Edinburgh,. The lecture was given by renowned academic, Cynthia Cockburn who spoke about the links between male violence, war and peace.  Something she touched upon was the idea of  "common sense", and as we close Together We Can Stop It, talking about common sense seems appropriate.

Ellie Hutchinson: On Sunday, we co-hosted a screening of “The Whistleblower” a fantastic, albeit, harrowing true story on UN corruption, corporate security forces, diplomatic immunity, rape and torture. Which may not seem the best way to spend your Sunday, but it was a really rewarding and thought provoking event.

Megan Johnson: During the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence individuals and organisations will be raising awareness of, challenging, and inspiring people to take action to end violence against women. The ethos of the 16 Days is embedded within the Women’s Aid network all year round. Activism - what it means to us both as individuals and collectively - is a reoccurring theme in our discussions.
