Census day statistics

A few weeks ago, we launched our census day statistics. These figures showed that on one day in Scotland, 341 women and 257 children were living in a Women's Aid refuge 809 women and 319 children and young people were supported by a Women's Aid group 82 women and 12 children contacted Women's Aid for the very first time 51% of women seeking refuge were turned away due to lack of safe or suitable space

 Euan Kerr Euan Kerr is the son of Kathy Kerr, one of the early workers with Edinburgh Women's Aid, and later the President of Scottish Women's Aid. I can’t remember exactly what went through my mind, but I am pretty sure it was “Of course.” My mother Kathryn Kerr, known to many as Kathy, had come to talk to me and my siblings one afternoon to say that she had joined an organisation which was helping women in trouble. She said a group of people were finding ways to get women out of abusive relationships and into a secret house where they would be safe.

Feminisms journey

For the 16 days, on Monday 2nd December, we will be hosting a panel and Q & A discussion event on feminism's journey. Speaking at the event will be Lily Greenan (Manager, Scottish Women’s Aid); Ash Kuloo (Learning and Development Co-ordinator, Scottish Women’s Aid); Nadia Medhi (Vice President Student Association, EUSA) ;Sam Rankin (Intersectional Projects Co-ordinator, Equality Network) and Talat Yaqoob (Feminist activist).  Get the last few tickets today!
