I can’t remember exactly what went through my mind, but I am pretty sure it was “Of course.” My mother Kathryn Kerr, known to many as Kathy, had come to talk to me and my siblings one afternoon to say that she had joined an organisation which was helping women in trouble. She said a group of people were finding ways to get women out of abusive relationships and into a secret house where they would be safe.
