Help and info for women

What you can do

If you are frightened or worried about the way your partner or ex-partner is treating you, you do not have to put up with it. There are many things you can do to protect yourself and any children from further harm.

You can contact a local Women’s Aid group for confidential information and support.

If you or your children are in danger and you need urgent help phone:

  • Your nearest Women’s Aid group.
  • The domestic abuse helpline: 0800 027 1234 (24 hours).
  • The police – you will get the number in your phone book (under P), or if you are in immediate danger phone 999.

No one deserves to be abused. No one should have to put up with abuse. There is support for anyone who needs help. Women and children who are affected by domestic abuse have rights under the law.
