Development days for trainers

Development (study) days have been designed for those involved in providing domestic abuse and violence against women training. They offer an opportunity for trainers to consider relevant and up-to-date theories, research and discourse on key issues with a view to providing a solid foundation and essential building blocks for ongoing training provision.

Those attending the development days must have an in-depth understanding of the causes, dynamics and impacts of domestic abuse. Attendance at a ‘Why a Gender Based Analysis?’ session is highly recommended as a starting point for attending other development days.

Development Day: Is Gender relevant?
This session will seek to explore and explain the terminology and rationale of a gender based analysis of domestic abuse. It will also consider research which purports to demonstrate gender equivalence – that men are as likely to experience domestic abuse perpetrated by their female partner, and that women are just as violent as men in heterosexual relationships.
